Being Certain in Uncertain Times

Hey, everyone, I just completed a run. So I'm trying to do the, how fast can I run one mile by the end of the summer? So I started off at like, 10:44, fastest time so far, 8:27, goal is to get below 8 minutes. The reason I share that with you is this, is right now we live in uncertain times. Some of the states are starting to open up, but we're not really sure. What does that mean in English, right? When do we get back to we can go to work, we can get haircuts, we can do what we need to do in a way that's safe for us, and for everyone around us. And basically, the leaders don't know we don't know. We all have our opinions.

So in this uncertain times, the question is, how do you get certainty? And one of the ways to get certainty is know who you are. Once you know who you are, that becomes the foundation for everything else. Once you're on solid footing, it allows you to take a breath, right? Allows you to take a breath because you know who you are, you know, certain what you want out of life, you know your purpose in life, you know, what would be an appropriate goal for you in, in business, in romance, how you physically feel, your connection with the Maker, all those areas of your life, you have a sense of knowing and conviction, because you know who you are, you know what you want to achieve.

And then from that you can look at the landscape around us and go, "What's the best path for me to get from where I am, to where I need to go." And I know right now there's lots of roadblocks, lots of roads that have been washed away. But there's always a way. And the only way to see the way is to have a strong foundation of who you are. I've got these defining moments in my life. One of them was one of my managers, when I worked at the Toronto Board of Education, said, he said, "If you don't know where you are, you're lost. And if you're lost, you can't find another destination, you need something of certainty," right? And what I'm suggesting to you is the most important area to get certainty in is who you are. Once you have that, no one can take that away from you. And that is the starting point for building the life you want, no matter what's going on in the world.

Thanks so much for tuning in. And I'm going to start off the morning lessons again. Remember last year I did 90 days in a row. Well, let's recreate it. This would be day one.
