Three most important words are integrity, relevance, and focus. So what does integrity mean to you, Michael?

Michael
Doing the right thing.

Umar Hameed
Doing the right thing?

Michael
Doing what you say you're gonna do.

Umar Hameed
Anybody else. So, you know, that's like a common definition of the word. But I think there's relevance also, or integrity around what you do and who you are. Because oftentimes, there's like societies, this is what integrity means, but for you, it's important to write because you violate your own stuff. Most people don't know what their integrity is. And one of the ways to find it, could you pass that sheet of paper over, Michael, thanks, is integrity around which area of your life, For work for me integrity, when I asked myself this question, what's important to me about work? To know that I'm doing a good job and being fulfilled? What's important is for me, fun. If you've been in a session with me, there's always like some dumb jokes, it's always good. Making a difference, learning new stuff all the time, no, I do these things that I'm reading all the time, learning all the time, and then teaching what I'm doing right now. So I could get another job that's got a great compensation package, "Umar come work for us," but if it doesn't have all of these, sooner or later, I'm going to be unfulfilled. So in your real estate career, if you ask yourself, what's important to me about the work that I do, what has to be there in order for me to be fulfilled? You would say, what's the first thing pops in your mind? What's important to you about work?

Woman 1
Getting the job done.

Umar Hameed
Getting the job done.

Woman 1
I mean, that's really it.

Umar Hameed
Okay.

Woman 1
I mean, for me.

Umar Hameed
Chris, to you the most important thing?

Chris
Money.

Umar Hameed
What's that?

Chris
Money.

Woman 1
Okay. Yeah, that's.

Umar Hameed
And for you?

Man 1
Having fun.

Umar Hameed
Having fun. So for all of us, we ask that question till you run out, you'll get your values around real estate. And you might notice that in this one area, I'm not getting enough of that. And that means that you're less than you could be in terms of satisfaction, so you show up less for your customers. And all you need to do is how could I get more of this and get to add that in there. So that's good for work. But what if you did it for your key romantic relationship? What's important to me about my romantic relationship, you'd have your values, and you could ask your significant other his values, and all of a sudden, you know what that person needs. So not only integrity in the common sense, but what's important to us, so we don't violate ourselves because when we violate ourselves, we pay a price, right? The second word is relevance. A lot of times we need to ask ourselves, are we relevant to our constituents? So you've got young kids, right? And you are probably really relevant to them now. But as they grow up and become teenagers, and become independent, what's going to happen is sometimes parents still have that mindset of, "My little babies," and they're not relevant to the kids anymore. And the kids are like, "No, get away from me."

Woman 2
That's [garbled]. Yeah.

Umar Hameed
Yeah. And so what we need to do is not only with our families, but with the market, our customers that we deal with, because now the world is changing. And people that stay with the old world, like blockbuster and some of the others that had dominance, and they lost sight of relevance, because they don't have the finger on the pulse, that they become inconsequential, right? So the question we need to ask ourselves continually is, am I relevant to my customers, to my family, to myself. Third word is focus, in the work that we do, how many people here like helping people? That is the reward of what you do. That is not the job that you do. The job that you do is what you're doing this morning. The hard work, the dedication thing that kind of sucks a little bit is setting appointments, because if you don't set those appointments, you don't get the opportunities to help. And all too often people get caught up in, "I'm an artist," and I really like creating, it's like, "Yes," but if you don't get commissions, and people hiring you to do it, you don't get to do that. So you need to realize that that is the reward for doing the work which is getting customers. So the three words are integrity to yourself, being relevant to your constituents, and focusing on what's most important that allows you to do the work that fills you.
